Bistrot Du Boucher - Arras

As you know I’m a normal child and I don’t go to restaurants everyday so when I was travelling through the north of France we stopped in Arras where we went to Bistrot Du Boucher. From the outside it looked quite nice but when inside it all changed. The walls were tea stained wallpaper and the table settings was a bit naff but the seasonal decorations – Christmas, were good because there wasn’t too much but they also looked a little tired.
Me at Bistrot du Boucher
Service 5/10 – They were quite friendly when we arrived. When we sat down the lady asked if we wanted any welcome drinks and we said yes and I got a coke and a pot of snacks for free and I thought that that was quite good. The toilets were quite nice and there were posh mirrors and it appeared quite new. When I ordered our proper drinks it took 5min 5sec  to get the drinks
Starter 5/10 – For the starter I ordered Goats Cheese on toast. The presentation was poor because it was just two bits of toast with goats cheese melted on it with no little garnish  on the side. But the taste was quite nice. The toast had a good crunch and the goats cheese has a good soft inside.
Main 6/10  - For the main I had seared salmon served with chips. But no greens I had no greens in the starter and now no greens in the main. But the salmon was lovely it was nicely cooked with seasoning but the chips were a letdown they were the frozen ones that get from the supermarket.
Desert  7/10 - Lastly for the desert I had strawberry and coffee ice cream. The coffee was really nice and strong and the flavour was magnificent and the strawberry was nice and fruity and really scrumptious. But guess what in the coffee and strawberry and ice cream there was a mint leaf. Finally something green!! But I didn’t eat because it was a mint leaf. And the presentation was perfect with two biscuit to go on the side.
Conclusion – overall the food wasn’t that good and if you are going for a posh night out I wouldn’t recommend it to you. So the final score was 23 standard. See you next time.

La Bonne Famille

Introduction
I went to la Bonne Famille in Sarrazac, that’s in the south of France. It was a nice location to have a restaurant but anyway I hope you enjoy my review.
Service
The service wasn’t that good because when we ordered the starter it took them nearly an hour just for some smoked salmon. The table setting was a bit better even though the knives and forks were like you would get in a school canteen. When I went to the toilet they were fine but I noticed a few tiles were missing. Score: 6/10
Starter
As I said the starter was smoked salmon with a Scottish pancake. The salmon was very nice and it was just the right amount for me to eat. The Scottish pancake was perfect and also it came with a little salad. Score: 9/10
Main Corse
For my main I had steak with mustard sauce, sauté potatoes and turnips.  The steak was to die for, it was cooked so well and when you added  the mustard sauce it became even better . The vegetables were a let down because the sauté potatoes were steamed and they tasted horrible and so did the steamed turnips. Score:7/10
Dessert
For my dessert I had a chocolate Knickerbocker glory. It was delicious with the squirty cream and the chocolate moose and a little scoop of chocolate ice cream. After I had eaten that I did feel a bit sick. Score: 8/10
It was a very nice meal and if you’re wondering is this really on the menu enfant, well it isn’t!  It’s a menu that the kids can choose but it’s made smaller.
The overall score is 30 that means the restaurant is premiere. So it’s a bye from Bertie.

An Explanation of My Ranking System

Let me explain how the ranking system works. There are these 5 ranks, discount, standard, premier, premium and luxury. Luxury is the best and discount is the worst if you have 35-40 points it is luxury, if it is 30-34 it is premium, if it is 25-29 it is premiere, and standard is 20-24 and discount which are the bad restaurants if they are under 20 points.

So you now know how this scoring system works so you’ll be able to know how good the restaurants are.

Auberge De Cartassac

aubergecartassac.com/

Ranking: 36.5/40 - Luxury
When I first entered it looked like a normal standard restaurant but when I saw the dining room it changed completely. The dining tables were set really neatly and there were nice paintings on the wall. We saw some of the people already dining and I thought that the presentation was brilliant so I couldn’t wait to get tucked in to my dinner.

The starter: 9.5
As I was saying the presentation was lovely. The Fois Gras was lovely. It had nice flavouring in it, The toast was perfectly toasted and it felt like Paradise, the lettuce the was beautifully presented and I loved the dressing that went with it. Overall the starter was surprising.
I loved my meal at Auberge De Cartassac

The main: 9
My next course was duck with sauteéd potatoes and the duck was really tender and the sauce that it came with was to die for. The sauteed potatoes were very nice and crunchy and the seasoning was very nice with salt and chives.

The desert: 10
For my dessert I had the best ice cream I had tried in years there was two flavours coffee and caramel. The caramel was so enjoyable it was really covered in flavour it was so nice and the coffee was just the same with really good coffee beans in it and the presentation was perfect.

The service: 8
The service was quite fast between courses and we got loads of refills of bread and water and that was quite nice of them. The tables were set nicely. BUT why it lost two marks is because the toilet wasn’t so good, the tap splashed everywhere and there wasn’t that much space in the toilet.

GUESS WHAT! all this fancy food was in the menu enfant and I thought it was great.
